Dr Jake Kushner is a US diabetes researcher and pediatric endocrinologist with a special interest in type 1 diabetes (T1D). He is Chief of Pediatric Diabetes and Endocrinology at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital. His career goal is to improve outcomes of people with diabetes and endocrine disorders by advancing scientific discovery, health care quality, or promoting innovative tools to improve outcomes. Dr Kushner says low-carbohydrate diets are especially promising for T1D. There are several providers who emphasize low-carb approaches to T1D care at Texas Children’s Hospital, including Drs Hicks, DeSalvo, and Ms Cerasuolo.
