Dr Stefanus “Stef” Snyman is a South African occupational medicine practitioner in Somerset West. Dr Snyman’s passion is to help reverse insulin resistance (IR) in the workplace and the risk it poses to employee health, functioning and productivity. He is an experienced advisor to companies to help address these and other risks in the workplace.He works in an interprofessional team to solve complex problems related to IR and other non-communicable diseases using a bio-psycho-social-spiritual approach. The foundation of his team’s approach is a low-carbohydrate, high-fat (LCHF) lifestyle to reduce and even wean persons off chronic medications and to optimise supplementation and exercise. The team collaborates with a pharmacologist, physiotherapist, psychologist, clinical pastoral counsellor and occupational therapist. Dr Snyman also heads an international team developing a state-of-the-art mobile app, called I Can Function, to help reverse insulin resistance.
