Dr Benjamin Bikman is an assistant professor of Physiology & Developmental Biology at Brigham Young University, in Provo, Utah. Dr Bikman conducts basic and applied research into the origins of insulin resistance, as well as the molecular mediators of ketogenic diets. His laboratory has two aims: Firstly, he and his team aim to identify the molecular mechanisms that explain the increased risk of disease that accompanies weight gain, with particular emphasis on the etiology of insulin resistance and disrupted mitochondrial function. Secondly, they hope to reveal novel cellular processes that are responsible for fat development. For more information, call +1 801.422.1678, email bikman@byu.edu or visit bikmanlab.byu.edu.
