Dr Annika Dahlqvist is a Swedish retired general practitioner, a specialist in general medicine. She enjoys a deserved reputation as the first low-carb, high-fat (LCHF) pioneer and the doctor who introduced LCHF into Sweden. In the fall of 2004, Dr Dahlqvist improved her own health through research into LCHF. In 2005, two dietitians reported her to the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare. In January 2008, the SNBHW vindicated her completely, saying that “…low carb diets can today be seen as compatible with scientific evidence and best practice for weight reduction for patients with overweight or diabetes type 2, as a number of studies have shown effect in the short term and no evidence of harm has emerged…”. Dr Dahlqvist continues to promote LCHF lifestyles. Her main information site now is her blog, Annika Dahlqvist.
