Dr Peter J Jensen MD is a full-time hospitalist and physician in Columbia, Mississippi, who supports the science for low-carb, high-fat (LCHF) and ketogenic therapies to treat and prevent serious life-threatening, such as obesity, diabetes and heart disease. Dr Jensen says that the conventional theory of the cause of coronary artery disease has been driven by the so-called “Diet-Heart Hypothesis” that is based on flawed research. The problem with the diet-heart hypothesis, he says, is that not only does intake of saturated fat, which can raise total cholesterol, but also raises HDL or good cholesterol, not correlate with heart disease, but that blood cholesterol itself doesn’t correlate with heart disease either. The prime cause of the development of atherosclerotic vascular lesions, Dr Jensen says, is more likely the effect of high insulin levels which are the prime characteristic of metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. For more information, you can call 267-521-1949, email Dr Jensen on pjj@pjensenmd.com or visit his website: Peter J Jensen MD (pjensenmd.com).
