Annie Coogans-Sorby is a mature age full-time food and nutrition student through La Trobe University. Thanks to Professor Tim Noakes, Dr Peter Brukner, Dr Maryanne Demasi and the Australian Catalyst science show, she has been on a low-carb, high-fat (LCHF) eating regimen for nearly four years. During that time, she has lost almost 40kg and healed herself of many ailments. She decided to train professionally as a nutritionist after suggestions by others that the way she was eating was dangerous and as she had no qualifications, she might be putting her health at risk. While spending time at home raising her four daughters, she became a volunteer breastfeeding counsellor to help other mums feed their babies the most natural and healthy way possible. Her LCHF journey is a natural progression from that. She is now a keen LCHF/keto advocate and is mentoring others on their weight loss and health journeys. For more information, you can email her at firstname.lastname@example.org

Australian GP Dr Nick Tellis is Practice Principal at the Partridge Street General Practice in Glenelg, Adelaide, and Chair of Southern Adelaide General Practice Council. He uses his medical knowledge to help patients achieve their health goals. “The body will go where the mind leads it,” Dr Tellis says. Thus, he firmly believes that taking the time to communicate well achieves real, long-term change for patients. He believes that doctors need more training in nutrition. Diabetes and obesity have increased over the last 30 years and medical advice must move on and address this, he says. Dr Tellis has researched and implemented LCHF/ketogenic diets for himself and his valued patients because “eat less and walk more” is clearly not working. “Medicine is a lifetime of ongoing learning and LCHF is a great tool to manage weight and health,” he says. Dr Tellis takes particular interest in promoting good mental health and is listed as a provider with Beyond Blue. You can follow him on Twitter (@partridgegp), and on Facebook, or email email@example.com.

Rebecca Varcoe works with Fiona Kane at Informed Health Nutritional Wellbeing Centre in New South Wales, Australia. They are all qualified nutritionists who help people to maintain their health or heal their body using nutritional medicine. They teach their clients how to nurture and nourish their bodies. They are not fat-phobic; they understand the science behind low-carb, high-fat (LCHF) and Paleo diets and offer them to clients as options; they say that since we have been eating the low-fat, high-carb, SAD (standard Australian/American) diet, we have become fatter and sicker, with obesity, diabetes and dementia all growing to frightening levels. Thus, They do not subscribe to the calories-in, calories-out (CICO) model of obesity. That’s the one which holds that obesity is from gluttony and sloth and all people have to do to lose weight is eat less and move more. Rebecca and Fiona say that CICO doesn’t work long-term and is not sustainable. For more information, you can email them at email@example.com or visit their website at www.informedhealth.com.au.
